    What Is Zardozi Embroidery?

    Zardozi is a traditional form of intricate embroidery that began in Persia and flourished across the Indian subcontinent, especially during the Mughal era. The word Zardozi comes from two Persian words, zar meaning gold and dozi meaning embroidery. Artisans use a special hooked needle called an aari to weave metallic thread into rich fabrics such as velvet, silk, and satin, building raised, sculptural patterns by hand.
